General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has received a contract from Boeing for the production of composite components and spares for the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

The company will provide components for C-17 aircraft, including winglets, leading and trailing edge flaps, landing gear / nose gear doors and radomes.

Under the $17m contract, the company will begin work in December 2011 and deliver the first batch in February 2012.

Developed by Boeing, the C-17 military transport aircraft is designed to carry large equipment, supplies and troops for long distances to remote areas around the world.

The subsidiary of General Dynamics will perform production and programme management at the advanced materials facility in Marion, Virginia, US.
