The Russian Air Force has temporarily grounded its fleet of Su-25 Frogfoot fighter jets to conduct an investigation into a crash that happened during a training mission.

The Russian Defence Ministry said that the plane crashed on 6 August 2010, 60km to the north-west of Step Airport in Siberia, according to RIA Novosti.

Designed in the 1970s, the twin-engine Su-25 jet was used by the air force for ground attack missions.

The crew of the plane ejected to safety before it hit the ground and there were no civilian injuries.
