Colombia has requested the sale of nine UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters as part of a foreign military sales agreement with the US.

The Colombian Air Force will divide the aircraft between the air force, police and army to strengthen its existing medical evacuation architecture and facilitate movement of injured personnel from combat zones.

The purchase of UH-60Ls will also enable Colombia to update its capability and enhance interoperability with the US and other allies.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in Stratford, Connecticut, will be the prime contractor for the total $162m sales agreement.
