Sypris Receives USAF F-16 Computer Manufacturing Contract

17 March 2010

Sypris Electronics has received a follow-on contract from Honeywell International, to produce electronic assemblies for the USAF's F-16 digital flight control computer (DFLCC) system.

Under the $6m contract, Sypris will manufacture the flight-critical DFLCC system, a quadruple redundant computer at the core of the fly-by-wire flight control system for the F-16.

The DFLCC system includes pilot inputs, aircraft motion and flight conditions to command position of the flight control surfaces, to increase aircraft performance and survivability.

The system will be used for the maintenance of the F-16 fleet operated by the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, in northern Utah.

The Lockheed-developed F-16 Fighting Falcon is a lightweight, multirole fighter aircraft.
