26 February 2010

Boeing has successfully completed the second phase of the Turkish Air Force's Peace Eagle 737 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) programme.

Phase 2 of the programme was compleated on time, and came in $21m under the $270m budget.

The Peace Eagle programme includes four 737 AEW&C aircraft plus ground support segments for mission crew training, mission support and system maintenance.

Under the programme, Boeing Defence Australia will provide initial training to the Turkish Air Force and to personnel from the Turkish industry, who will later be in charge of in-service product support activities.

Boeing completed phase 1 of the programme in 2006.

The company will complete the third phase of the Peace Eagle project in 2012 under a $930m contract signed with Turkey's Ministry of National Defence Undersecretariat for Defence Industries.
