The Indian Air Force (IAF) will perform a 48-hour, day-and-night exercise in Pokhran from 24 February, after a gap of four years, to showcase the fire power and airlift capability of its latest fighter jets.

Massive bombing, aerial dog fighting and day-night air drop of commandos in the Thar Desert in Rajasthan will be the main attractions of the Vayu Shakti exercise, according to economictimes.com.

The IAF will deploy Su-30MKI air superiority, Jaguar, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, MiG-27 and MiG-21 during the exercise.

The Mi-35 attack helicopters, Mi-17 medium lift helicopters, IL-76 heavy lift and AN-32 medium lift transport plane will also be part of the day-and-night air drop for specialised operations.
