Sustainable Oils to Supply Camelina-Based Fuel to USAF

17 November 2009

Sustainable Oils will supply camelina-based jet fuel to the US Air Force under a new contract form the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC).

Camelina-based fuel is a renewable, low-carbon domestically produced fuel from camelina, a readily available renewable fuel feedstock.

In September 2009, the DESC awarded a similar contract to sustainable oils for a minimum of 40,000gal of camelina-based jet fuel with an option to supply an additional 150,000gal.

The contract calls for 100,000gal of HRJ-8 type fuel and an additional 100,000gal by the end of 2012.
