Iran intends to put a new generation of home-grown heat-seeking missiles into mass production following successful test firings, according to Iranian Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi.
The air-to-air missile can track its target by its heat signature, has a range of up to 100km and can be used against fighter jets and helicopters.
According to the top commander, the missile has been tested with a range of over 40km, but its range could be modified to increase at higher altitudes.
Iranian Air Force commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi was quoted by IRNA as saying that the Iranian Air Force along with other military forces is determined to keep itself in a state of high preparedness to confront any security threats.
