Boeing to Get Telephonics Communication Systems for C-17

28 October 2009

Boeing is to receive communication open system architecture (COSA) integrated radio management systems (IRMS) for the C-17 aircraft under two contracts from Telephonics.

The C-17 Globemaster II is a high-wing, four-engine transport aircraft that can carry large equipment, supplies and troops directly to small airfields in harsh terrain anywhere in the world, in day or night.

The open architecture solution would be a part of modernising the aircraft and its capabilities.

Telephonics will produce and provide support to the C-17 communications systems, under the contracts together valued at about $35m.
