US Pilots to Use ITT Night Vision Goggles

19 October 2009

The US Air Force is to receive AN/PVS-14 night vision monocular goggles from ITT Corporation.

The AN/PVS-14 is a high-performance, lightweight and reliable night vision monocular device that provides enhanced resolution for mobility and target identification.

The rugged devices can be hand-held, head or weapon-mounted or fitted to a camera.

The goggles operate on a single AA battery and are equipped with ITT's thin-filmed Generation 3 Pinnacle image intensifier tube, which is over ten times better at detecting available light than previous generations.

The devices will be receieved under a $19.3m order from the US Army's Research Development and Engineering Command Acquisition Center. 80% of the goggles will be delivered to the air force, with the remainder going to the US Army and the US Navy.
