New Zealand to Introduce New Trainer Helicopters

13 October 2009

The Royal New Zealand Air Force will introduce eight NH90 and five A-109LUH helicopters to replace its aging fleet of Iroquois UH1H in the rotary wing transport force role.

The NH-90 is a medium-size, twin-engine helicopter which can be deployed for tactical transport of up to 20 military personnel.

The AgustaWestland-built A109LUH is a twin-engine light utility helicopter that is used by the air force for training purposes.

The two platforms will need an aeronautical navigation database and update service to maintain airworthiness and operational capability.

The air force has issued a request for proposals for the update service.
