The US Government has awarded a contract to aerospace manufacturing company Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) to provide T-6A trainer aircraft to the Israeli Air Force.

The single-engined turboprop Beechcraft T-6 aircraft is currently in use by the US Air Force and US Navy’s joint primary aircraft training system (JPATS) for basic pilot training.

The T-6 is used as a primary trainer aircraft that accommodates instruction in instrument flight procedures and basic aerial manoeuvres as well as delivering a training programme that includes more than 155 hours of flight time.

The trainer has been used to train pilots in approximately 20 different countries to date.
