The Indonesian and Australian Air Forces are conducting joint air combat simulation exercises, Elang Ausindo 2011, in Bali, Indonesia, until 10 September 2011.

The exercises are designed to enhance the performance of fighter aircraft and crews of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU).

Australian participation in the training includes eight F18 Hornets, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III and two Hercules C130s.

TNI-AU is participating with six F16s and two Hercules C130s, according to Bali Discovery.

TNI-AU Ngurah Rai Air Sector commander Lieutenant Colonel Jumarto said TNI-AU undertakes regular joint exercises with other countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and the US.
