BAE Systems has received a two-year extension contract to provide support to the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) lead-in-fighter Hawk aircraft.
The $150m contract includes maintenance, engineering and logistic support services to the 33 lead-in-fighter Hawk aircraft, two training simulators and a computer-based instruction system.

The Hawks, based at RAAF Williamtown and RAAF Pearce, are used to provide initial fast jet training for aircrew to fly the classic Hornet, Super Hornet and the future joint strike fighter.
The Australian Defence Ministry has worked with the company to deliver savings in excess of 10% over the two-year extension period, a revised maintenance strategy and improvements to the overhaul programme for the aircraft.
BAE had been providing support to the aircraft since it entered service in 2000.
