The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential sale of CBU-105D/B sensor fused weapons and associated equipment to Saudi Arabia.

Under the estimated $355m foreign military sale, Saudi Arabia has requested 404 CBU-105D/B sensor fused weapons, 28 CBU-105 integration test assets, containers, spare and repair parts, and other related support.

The sensor fused weapons will be used to modernise its armed forces and enhance its capability to defeat defensive threats that include strongpoints, bunkers, dug-in facilities, armoured and semi-armoured vehicles, personnel as well as specific maritime threats.

The sale will enhance the Royal Saudi Air Force standardisation and operational capability and its interoperability with the US Air Force, Gulf Cooperation Council member states, and other coalition air forces.

Textron Systems Corporation will be the prime contractor.
