United Launch Services has been awarded a not-to-exceed-$575m firm-fixed-price contract to provide evolved expendable launch vehicle (EELV) launch services by the US Space and Missile Systems Center.

Under the contract, the company will provide support services to missions that include mobile user objective services 2, wideband global satellite communications 6 and national reconnaissance office launch 65.

The EELV is the US Air Force space lift modernisation programme to increase the US space launch industry’s competitiveness and implement acquisition reform initiatives at reduced costs and deployment of commercial launch services.

The company has already been awarded $254.25m as an obligatory amount and work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Colorado, US.
