The Iranian Air Force has equipped its F-14 fighter jets with advanced indigenous radars, Iranian Army lieutenant commander rear admiral Farhad Amiri has said.

“The radar system of these fighters is highly complicated because it consists of a set of separated parts which should be linked to each other when they are mounted on the fighter jet, and this is a very complex scientific and technological process,” he added.

The indigenous radar systems have been mounted and installed on the specified places covering the blind spots with other systems.

Iran had been using US and UK radars in the past but has reached self-sufficiency in producing radar systems in different frequencies and ranges, according to Fars News Agency.

The country is also developing a radar system that can cover areas within a range of 3,000km.
