India is expected to equip Dhruv helicopters with indigenous missiles as part of a missile development programme undertaken by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

“For the first time, we are indigenously developing a missile called Helina to be deployed on the weaponised version of the ALH Dhruv helicopter,” PTI News quoted DRDO chief VK Saraswat as saying.

The Helina indigenous guided air-to-ground missile is being developed by DRDO and will be ready for user trials in 2013.

The missile is an upgraded version of the Nag anti-tank missile.
