The Canadian Air Force plans to sell its five Chinook helicopters deployed in Afghanistan.

The air force decided to sell the choppers once combat missions have ended in Afghanistan as there is a new fleet of helicopters on order.

Canada purchased the CH-147D choppers from the US in a government-to-government arrangement.

The new F-series choppers have been modified with large fuel tanks and improved sensors, according to CTVNews.

Canada intended to spend $4.7bn on 15 new Chinooks a few years ago.
