US Airmen in Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) at Papa Air Base, Hungary, and Ramstein Air Base, Germany, have participated in aerial port training near Ramstein AB and Grafonvier, Germany, between 10 January and 13 January.

The joint forces have conducted two personnel airdrop flights and two heavy equipment airdrops.

Ramstein AB Airmen have advised HAW Airmen on how to coordinate logistical support and project combat and humanitarian airdrops.

HAW director of operations Major Daniel Lang said the airdrop resources available at Ramstein Air Base are significant as they bridge a gap in aerial port and aerial delivery capability available in Ramstein AB as they start operations in Hungary.

The training missions are also important for international C-17 Globemaster III aircrews to maintain their airdrop proficiency so they can continue to provide the 12-nation strategic airlift capability.
