2 November 2010

Brazil has delivered eight Super Tucano intercept aircraft, purchased from Embraer, to the Dominican Air Force (FAD).

The air force will use the Super Tucano aircraft to patrol airspace and prevent drug trafficking in the country.

The Super Tucano A-29Bs can fire air-to-air missiles such as the Phyton 3, AIM-9 SideWinder, MAA-1 Pirana and the AGM-65 Maverick.

The first two aircraft arrived in the Dominican Republic on 10 December 2009, after flying 17 hours with stops from Sao Paulo.

The three additional A-29B arrived on 29 June this year and the remaining three arrived on 27 October at San Isidro, according to dominicantoday.com.
