Radar absorbent material (RAM) has electrical properties similar to free space. When a radar wave encounters this material, it creates a magnetic field within the metallic elements. The field has alternating polarity and dissipates the energy of a radar signal. A significant portion of radar energy is converted into heat. The absorbed electromagnetic energy is dissipated as heat and very little energy is reflected.
