Major Proposals to Strengthen the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty: A Resource Guide for the 2010 Review Conference

05 May 2010

This is a white paper from the Arms Control Association, published ahead of the May 2010 talks in Washington DC.

Following the US's historic Nuclear Posturing Review and the signing of START II between the US and Russia, it is important for countries to move forward towards nuclear disarmament.

All signatories of the treaty will be present in Washington in an attempt to convince each other to reduce nuclear arsenals or to not develop nuclear weapons at all.

US President Barack Obama sees a nuclear-free world as a major goal for the future and an important part of this is to ensure current nuclear powers show responsibility and terrorist organisations and rogue states do not end up with the capability to launch such weapons.
