China has formulated a strategic military guideline for active defence for the future in line with a step-by-step development strategy that aims to modernise its national defence and armed forces.

The border and coastal defence force of the Chinese Army has intensified in recent years and conducted a wide range of joint military exercises with the neighbouring nations.

In order to meet weaponry and equipment development needs, China is constantly reforming its management system of defence-related science, technology and industry.

The Chinese Government is contributing international efforts in the fields of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.
