Roketsan - Rockets and MissilesRoketsan Missiles Industries was established in 1988 to lead Turkey's national rocket and missile research and production programmes. Roketsan's world-class manufacturing centres produce weapons and equipment to NATO standards. 300MM CALIBRE UNGUIDED ROCKETSThe 300mm Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) weapon system is ROKETSAN's long-range solution, with a maximum range of 100km. The 300mm MBRL system is comprised of two key parts: the T-300 MBRL and TR-300 Artillery Rocket (AR). The rockets can be launched from within the cab of the launcher by a battery command post. The 300mm unguided rockets use a composite solid propellant (HTPB) and are fitted with a warhead developed by Roketsan. This warhead contains 26,000 steel balls. The rocket is fitted with a nose-mounted proximity fuze with a lethal range of 70m (although fragments go out well beyond this range). The rockets have a minimum range of 40km and a maximum range of 80km (with drag rings) and 100km (without). Their overall length is 4.75m and they have four fixed fins at the rear with a quoted launch weight of 530kg, of which 150kg is the warhead. The MBRL is a weapon system suitable for all weather conditions during day and night, and capable of firing four rockets in ripple. 122MM EXTENDED RANGE ROCKETSRoketsan has type-classified a 122mm calibre extended-range multi-barrel launcher ammunition designated the TR-122. This new unguided rocket extends the 122mm calibre rocket launcher system's range to over 40,000m. The latest production T-122 rocket system has been in service with Turkish Land Forces Command since 1996. The TR-122 unguided rocket can be fired from a Roketsan-made 122mm T-122 multi-barrel rocket launcher and its foreign equivalents. The complete Roketsan 122mm rocket family consists of the following types:
107MM CALIBRE UNGUIDED ROCKETRoketsan has also type classified a 107mm calibre unguided rocket (the TR-107) which extends the trailer-mounted 107mm calibre rocket launcher system range to over 11,000m. Extended-range 107mm rockets designed and manufactured by ROKETSAN have a distinctive airframe / aerodynamic design and reduced smoke composite propellant, and reach up to 50% longer ranges compared to classical 107 mm rockets. Rockets with High Explosive (HE) and Steel Ball (SB) warheads, named as TR-107 and TRB-107, create effective lethality on area targets at ranges well over 11km through their superior dispersion characteristics. The TR-107 rocket is spin-stabilised and has a reduced smoke solid propellant to provide the extended range. It can be fitted with one of two types of warhead: HE or SB (containing steel balls, which are highly effective against soft targets). 70MM LASER-GUIDED AIR-GROUND ROCKETSRoketsan successfully tested its new 2.75in air-ground rocket in a precision-guided version in 2006, and, according to information from the manufacturer, should be ready for serial production by the end of 2008. The laser guided rocket is 1.9m long, weighs 14kg and has a maximum range of 8km. It is classified as the insensitive munition Type V with enhanced resistance to initiation caused by a bullet / splinter hit or a liquid fuel fire. According to preliminary plans the weapon system should equip both the existing Turkish AH-1P and AH-1W attack helicopters, and upcoming T-129 helicopter, readied under the ATAK II programme. This semi-active laser guided air-to-ground weapon and its smart launcher (with MIL-STD-1760 interface) will fill the gap between unguided munitions and the active-guidance anti-amour systems of modern attack helicopters. AIR-LAUNCHED ANTI-TANK GUIDED MISSILERokestan's new long-range air-launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) will have a maximum range of at least 8km, an overall length of 1.75m, a diameter of 160mm and a launch weight of 35kg. The warhead is envisaged to be of a tandem High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) type in order to meet the threat of vehicles equipped with explosive reactive armour. The ATGM is envisaged as the main armament for the future T-129 light attack helicopter. SUBMARINE DEFENCE SYSTEMThis rocket against submarine threats can be fired from all navy platforms. The HE warhead will be exploded at a suitable depth adjusted by an FCS before firing.
