STN Atlas Elektronik and L-3 Communications Sign Exclusive Flight Simulation Teaming Agreement
20 December 2001 10:25
Germany's STN Atlas Elektronik GmbH and US based L-3 Communications' Link Simulation and Training division have formally signed a teaming agreement on future flight simulation projects using advanced laser projection systems.
The agreement provides Link exclusivity to a unique laser projection system, known as AVIOR by STN Atlas Elektronik. The Rheinmetall subsidiary STN Atlas Elektronik will gain access to the US military flight simulation market. STN Atlas Elektronik and Schneider Laser Technologies AG, the manufacturer of the laser source for AVIOR, expect significant revenue growth from this agreement.
Dr. Thomas Kuestner, Chairman of the Management Board of STN Atlas Elektronik: "Access to the US market has always been a strategic goal for our company. The agreement with L-3 Communications means a major step forward for us.
"A primary benefit to military flight simulation through the use of this laser projection system will be more realistic and reliable visual system solutions that will enhance the training experience," said Jim Dunn, president of Link Simulation and Training. "Military flight simulation users have long required improved visualization to undertake training that can support advanced war fighter readiness."
AVIOR promises outstanding benefits for military flight simulation customers including high brightness, exceptional contrast and low life cycle cost. AVIOR provides a high performance laser projector system as an alternative to existing projectors used in military flight simulators.
