RHEINMETALL DEFENCE ELECTRONICS - Aircraft Simulation SystemsRheinmetall Defence Electronics (RDE) is one of the largest German manufacturers of military simulation-systems for all forces, possessing 18,000 employees and achieving a €3.5 billion annual turnover. Rheinmetall provides turnkey solutions from computer-based training to full-mission activities, including courseware and construction works. The company has more than 35 years' experience in high-precision and fidelity simulation-modelling. Its expertise in the flight simulation markets ensures highly-economical products with assets that are immediately ready for operation. Rheinmetall has a wide range of simulation-systems, including generic, stimulation and on-board systems. AVIOR LASER SYSTEM Owing to its laser technology, the AVIOR system family offers unlimited focus depth, a considerable variety of colours, high brightness, excellent contrast and constant colour convergence. With primary colours of maximum saturation it opens a much wider colour space than is available on any other current display. With its compact dimensions and light weight (approximately 8kg), the laser projector head is an exceedingly practical unit for installation in collimated display systems, which also means a massive reduction in the weight of moving parts. It can be sited from the laser unit without the need for signal amplification. Acting in close cooperation with the Russian aircraft manufacturer MiG, RDE supplied the Indian Navy with a full-mission simulator – complete with AVIOR laser system – for the carrier variant of its MiG 29K fighter planes. The training suite will be equipped with the AVIOR laser system, which is also used in the Tornado flight simulator of the German Air Force. AVIOR NTS is a complete vision system for extremely realistic night-vision training that offers numerous advantages for pilot instruction. AVIOR NTS provides a perfect visualisation of typical night-vision effects, like blooming and halo, so that they recreate the effect characteristics in the real world. In this way, the pilot can train with a large number of effects and use his own original night-vision goggles. HELITRAINER FLIGHT AND NAVIGATIONAL PROCEDURE TRAINER (FNPT II) RDE and AVIA STS have introduced a class-specific Flight and Navigation Procedure Trainer (FNPT), for civil and military basic flight training on light piston engine helicopters. The system replicates a H269 / H300 light helicopter, and has been qualified by the German Aviation Authorities (LBA) to credit real flight hours under visual and instrument flight rules (IFR / VFR). NH 90 HELICOPTER SIMULATOR Under the Bundeswehr's first privately financed pilot-training project, Helicopter Flight Training Services GmbH – a joint venture in which RDE is participating – will be responsible for training the crews of Germany's nine new multi-mission NH90 helicopters. Training will take place in privately run facilities. EUROFIGHTER SIMULATOR RDE is participating in the development of concepts and simulation technologies to be used to train future EUROFIGHTER pilots. The simulation concept encompasses full mission simulators of the latest generation with multi-axis motion systems and a high-resolution 360° panoramic out-of-the-window display. TIGER SIMULATOR Together with Thales Training & Simulation, RDE is responsible for the development and prototype production of the TIGER Aircraft Training Means. The visual systems for both FMS and CPT and the digital terrain model, in combination with the multi axis (six DOF) hydraulic motion system and the three DOF control load system, set a new standard in the world of simulation. COMPUTER BASED TRAINING (CBT)Parallel to the development of the original helicopter until series production and of the setup of the German-French training centre, RDEs' affiliated company, benntec GmbH, created up to 500 hours of interactive and individual training for the German attack helicopter TIGER KHS and the French support helicopter TIGER HAP.
