L-3 Launches HD World Synthetic Environment Product Line at Interservice/Industry Simulation, Training & Education Conference

12 March 2008

L-3 Communications recently announced the launch of HD World™, a next generation military simulation synthetic environment product line that integrates the latest advancements in high definition database creation, physics-processing systems and image generation.

L-3 is debuting HD World at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation & Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, FL, considered the world’s premier military simulation and training event. During I/ITSEC's four-day run, L-3 is demonstrating this integrated simulation technologies solution designed to recreate the complexity of the urban environment and maximize performance from the latest generation of commercial off-the-shelf projection systems.

"At L-3 we have long understood the need to maximize content in visual database design, modeling, synthetic forces, physics and artificial intelligence to produce the type of immersive experience demanded by our warfighters in their current theaters of operations," said Frank Delisle, Vice President of Engineering & Technology for L-3 Link Simulation and Training. "With HD World, we have integrated advancements across multiple commercial off-the-shelf technologies that are enabling creation and display of simulation content that will enable warfighters to gain training credit equivalent to live training."

At I/ITSEC, L-3 is demonstrating integrated commercial off-the-shelf solutions that support rapid generation of large area databases with dense urban environments, real-time graphics rendering and the advantages that physics-based interactions and artificial intelligence can bring in creating a highly realistic and challenging training environment.
