Helicopter giant certifies Presagis as an Approved Airborne Software Supplier

Presagis (TSX: EGY), a leading provider of solutions for the development of high-end visualization and simulation applications, today announced that AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, has approved Presagis as an Airborne Software Supplier and selected VAPS XT 661 for use in the development of its ARINC 661 cockpit displays.

AgustaWestland has already licensed the commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) software for use in prototyping and simulation environments. With the Approved Airborne Software Supplier designation, Engenuity’s VAPS XT 661 software is now approved to fly aboard AgustaWestland aircraft. This prestigious designation is only given out to companies and products that meet the rigorous demands of a full corporate and production audit performed onsite by AgustaWestland.

“ARINC 661 is fast becoming the world wide standard for defining cockpit display system interfaces, and we are thrilled to receive the Approved Airborne Software Supplier designation from such a renowned organization,” said Patrice Commune, chief executive officer, Presagis . “This represents a significant milestone in our partnership with AgustaWestland and we look forward to the opportunities ahead.”

VAPS XT 661 is based on the commercial aviation display standard ARINC 661, which supports interoperability of equipment within the aircraft cockpit. VAPS XT 661 will allow HMI developers at AgustaWestland to easily design cockpit display systems that comply with this aviation protocol. The VAPS XT 661 software will be initially deployed in EH101 cockpits.

A part of Presagis’s next-generation VAPS XT toolset, VAPS XT 661 provides the flexibility and extensibility HMI developers need to design and develop user-defined widgets. Based on the open and extensible architecture of VAPS XT, VAPS XT 661 gives developers control over virtually every object parameter, allowing for greater creative freedom when designing to the ARINC 661 standard.
