CONTROP's SHAPO Camera Payload on Air Force Airship in South America

CONTROP

CONTROP Precision Technologies recently supplied the air force (of an undisclosed country in South America) with the SHAPO system for installation on an airship to monitor environmental events, for example active volcanoes and the like. Due to the lightweight (10.5kg) of the SHAPO camera payload, the airship can stay airborne for an extended amount of time.

The air force is using this camera system for environmental monitoring as well as other defense and security applications. The SHAPO is a gyro stabilized camera payload which includes a thermal imaging camera, a daylight camera and a laser range finder. The system is controlled and monitored by a data link from the ground control station.
