Accipiter Radar Technologies - Accipiter Surveillance Radar SystemsAccipiter Radar Technologies, Inc. (ARTI) develops, manufactures and sells the Accipiter family of network-based, tracking, surveillance radar systems. Accipiter radars achieve outstanding detection and tracking performance and provide advanced automated surveillance features at low cost by combining economical commercial off-the-shelf marine radar hardware with ARTI's sophisticated Accipiter digital radar processor. Accipiter systems serve two major markets: homeland security applications such as border enforcement, maritime domain awareness, critical infrastructure protection, law enforcement and coastal surveillance, and avian (bird) tracking for bird-aircraft strike hazard management, natural resource management, environmental impact assessments and ornithology research. RADAR ENGINEERINGThe ARTI radar engineering team, with over 150 combined years of military radar development experience, has succeeded in integrating the military gold-standard tracking methods with low-cost commercial computing platforms to achieve the best radar performance-to-price figures in the industry. These advanced algorithms enable Accipiter to track difficult, fast, manoeuvring, uncooperative targets, even in dense target and high-clutter environments. SCALABLE MULTI-RADAR NETWORKSAccipiter's network-based architecture permits the deployment of a network of radars fused into a combined situational awareness display located at one or more operations centres. Sophisticated, automated and multi-zone alerts can trigger on complex events to minimise demands on radar-monitoring staff, and remote control eliminates the need for travel to the radar site except for hardware maintenance. Accipiter's network architecture is scalable from single radar sites to large, wide area networks. SOFTWARE DEFINABLE RADARMost radar systems are designed for a specific environment (e.g. maritime) and target type (e.g. ships) and do not work well in different applications. Accipiter was designed from inception as a "software definable radar" that can be instantly and even automatically configured to different environments, targets and missions. Accipiter's flexibility will sometimes permit a single deployment to simultaneously serve dual missions such as bird strike avoidance and airport security. One remarkable example of this adaptability is that Accipiter was specifically designed for homeland security applications such as border patrol, law enforcement and critical infrastructure protection, but has subsequently won acclaim for its outstanding performance as an avian radar in bird-aircraft strike hazard management applications and is deployed at both commercial and military airports. LAND, SEA AND AIR RADARARTI's elite radar team also provides custom development, configuration and support services to adapt and optimise Accipiter systems and networks to specific applications. As Accipiter is a digital, software-definable radar, it can be quickly configured to track a wide range of targets on land, water or in the air. ARTI has worked closely with law-enforcement agencies responsible for border enforcement to add specific features needed for accurate and timely response to border violations. RADAR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTARTI's world-class team of radar scientists and engineers is continually advancing Accipiter guided by customer needs. Planned developments will add a number of new capabilities previously only available in expensive military systems. Wherever possible, new features will be planned to allow existing systems to be upgraded economically with the new capabilities. ACCIPITER RADAR USERSWhile many Accipiter radar deployments cannot, by their nature, be disclosed, we can report that current Accipiter radar users include the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Air Force, USDA, FAA, US Department of Homeland Security, law enforcement agencies and defence contractors.
