Rave Computer Introduces Rugged 1U and 3U Aluminium Servers Designed for Department of Defense

Rave Computer has introduced two new rugged rackmount servers in 1U and 3U aluminium form factors, developed for the Department of Defense, with customisable parameters that fit aboard aircrafts, ground-based vehicles, surface ships and sub-surface ships.

"Our 1U and 3U servers are excellent additions to Rave's product line because of their versatility and design to fit various military deployments," said Dave Burnett, director of engineering for Rave Computer. "These lightweight, short-depth systems can be modified to meet unique environmental requirements such as shock, vibration, temperature and space."

The 1U Xeon Seaburg Aluminium Short Depth Rugged Rackmount's features include:

  • Ruggedised for shock and vibration (shock MIL-S-901D; vibration MIL-STD-167-1)
  • Short Depth (19.25in) and lightweight (15lb) aluminium chassis
  • Quad and dual core Intel® 64-bit Xeon® processors, 5400 Seaburg Chipset
  • Two 2.5in Hot Swap removable disk drives
  • Support for 16x2 LCD module
  • Two PCI-Express x8 slots

The 3U Blackford Rugged Rackmount's features include:

  • Ruggedised for shock and vibration (shock MIL-S-901D; vibration MIL-STD-167-1)
  • Short depth (20in) and lightweight aluminium chassis
  • Quad and dual core Intel 64-bit Xeon, up to 1,333MHz FSB
  • Four exposed 3.5in bays for Hot Swap removable disk drives
  • Support for 16x2 LCD module
  • Front accessible USB and BD9 serial ports
  • Removable dust filters
