For the fifth year in a row, Kanfit has been a proud sponsor of the Technion Formula Student SAE race car project. In 2017, the Technion’s team participated in two Formula Student competitions: the first was in Austria where the Technion’s race car finished in eighth place and the second race was at the Hockenheimring racetrack in Germany, where it came in 50th. The team’s final overall ranking is an impressive 84 out of 560 participants from all over the world.

For nine months, from inception to design to production, Kanfit worked side by side with students from the various Technion faculties to build the 187kg, 50 horsepower car with a KTM 450 EXC engine. All carbon parts, including the steering wheel, driver’s seat, and all the aerodynamic spoilers and fairings, were manufactured at Kanfit.

“Kanfit has been a proud sponsor of the Technion’s Formula Student project from the beginning,” said Shai Fine, General Manager of Kanfit.

“It enables us to nurture the next generation of world-class Israeli engineers in the composite industry while giving us an ideal opportunity to demonstrate our advanced manufacturing technologies for increased speed and improved performance for our customers in the aerospace industry. We’re already looking forward to next year’s competition.”

Sponsors of the project include the Grand Technion Energy Program (GTEP), Rafael, Intel, Bernard M. Gordon Center for System Engineering, Alubin, Mutipress and Tapix, among others.
