Sermatech Introduces Line of Environmentally Friendly Coatings

Sermatech International introduces a family of patented coatings and processes that are designed to eliminate hazardous ingredients such as hexavalant chromium.
These coatings will allow applicators and end users to comply with the growing number of global environmental requirements including worker safety, waste disposal, and end-of-life hardware regulations.
These high performance sealed coating systems can be provided in a variety of colors (black, brown, orange, green, blue), including the possibility of custom colors that match a particular corporate graphic palette. These coatings systems include aluminum rich basecoats that produce a coating system with excellent corrosion resistance and thermal stability. Sermatech's new chromium free sealing topcoats are stable to high temperatures and produce a smooth, sealed, coating system. Such coating systems are currently being evaluated by aircraft engine OEM's around the world as well as the United States Military as replacements for the hexavalent chromium containing coatings.
According to Kevin Eddinger, Manager Materials Division, "Sermatech Chromium Free Coatings are the result of an extensive development program with the goal of providing coatings that can deal with today's complicated environmental regulation issues without sacrificing the coating performance characteristics expected from these metallic ceramic coatings. In addition the Chromium Free coatings can be handled and applied in much the same way that the existing chromium containing products are applied, making the transition to these coatings a simple process."
