sarsen september news roundup

Welcome to the September Edition of News Bytes. This month has been a particularly busy one for the Sarsen Team, with a very successful week at DSEi 2013, and the Dream Marketing Defence & Aerospace Roadshow which started on the September 16th and continues through to October 4th.

DSEI 2013 Overview

The Sarsen Technology team had a successful week at DSEI 2013. We met with a number of new and old industry contacts and some key partners from Altera, Ecrin Systems and Tech Source.

The BittWare EW and Radar Development System demo based on a 6U VPX dual Altera Stratix V FPGA proved very popular with the visitors to the Altera stand and the MIL-STD-810, DO-160 qualified ONYX rugged computer system demo drew people to the Ecrin Systems stand. The Tech Source high-performance MILCOTS graphics and video solutions also proved popular.

DSEI 2013 showcased an amazing array of technology solutions and it was good to be seen at the forefront of the technology advances.

Rugged MIL-CUBE Data Acquisiton & Control Chassis from United Electronic Industries

The latest innovation from UEI is the DNA-PPC6-1G-MIL Cube, offering all the benefits and performance of the GigE Cube, but with 38999 style connectors and an IP65 sealed enclosure.

The MIL-CUBE platform is 100% COTS based and supported by UEI’s family of more than 50 compatible analog, digital and interface I/O boards, including ARINC-429, MIL-1553, CAN and high-voltage analog outputs (up to 115 VDC).

TeraBox – New Multi-FPGA Reconfigurable Computing Platform from BittWare

The TeraBox from BittWare is an ultra high-performance FPGA platform, ideal for network/packet processing and high performance computing applications.

Featuring up to sixteen of the largest Altera Stratix® V Family FPGAs, the TeraBox offers 20 TeraFLOPS of processing power, along with 6.5 Terabits/sec of memory bandwidth and 1.28 Terabits/sec of I/O – all in a turnkey rackmount solution.

16-Bit, 500KSPS PCI Express Analog Output Board from General Standards

The PCIe-16AO64C from General Standards is a precision 16-Bit analog output product that provides 64 simultaneously clocked output channels in a PCIe form factor. Outputs can be clocked at rates up to 500 KSPS per channel, and are supported by a 256K-Sample FIFO data buffer.

Each analog output channel implements an R-2R DAC, which minimises latency and has no minimum clocking rate. The outputs can be factory-configured for single-ended operation or for 3-wire balanced differential operation.
